Many First Nation People are able to find the connection between all things, a gift given by the Creator. Connecting with the animals and their spirits is one of those shared gifts. ANT

Tirelessly works with her tribe in perfect unity. Invoke ant medicine for patience and ability to work hard and plan carefully.

ANTELOPE

Shy, silent antelope medicine is the wisdom to keep still. Invoke for mystic awareness through silence and meditation.

ARMADILLO

Wears effective protective armor. Armadillo medicine helps us set healthy, effective emotional boundaries.

BADGER

Aggressive, fearless. Bites and never lets go. Forms a hunting alliance with Coyote and other animals. Invoked for courage, persistence, ability to form alliances.

BAT

Hears in dark by sonar. Invoke to hear messages from the dark recesses of the psychic realm, to develop magical abilities. Tribal peoples invoke Bat medicines for rebirth and initiation.

BEAR

Invoked by American Indians for healing, renewal, meditation and the ability to grant great shamanic powers to humans.

BEAVER

Builds dams. Also digs canals from pond to pond. Invoke to open new channels of thought and to build our dreams.

BEE

Invoke bee medicine for communication, and the ability to work hard and harmoniously while still enjoying the nectar of life.

BLUEBIRD

Invoke for happiness, luck, joy and contentment.

BOAR

A ferocious aggressive fighter. Ancient cultures invoked Bear medicines for healing, cleverness, courage and protection.

BUFFALO

American Indians honor his medicine which opens our hearts to prayer and peace. Nearly hunted to extinction, small herds still survive. Invoke for endurance.

BULL

Bull medicine is invoked for power, leadership, protection and fertility, since he can impregnate large harems of cows.

BUTTERFLY

Transforms from larvae to caterpillar to butterfly. Invoke for self-transformation, spiritual growth, courage to change.

CAMEL

Expert at conversation, goes for ten months with out water. Invoke her medicine for stamina, endurance, conversation.

CAT

Invoke for understanding mystery, cleansing, purification, independence, magical powers, mystic visions, sensuality, grace.

CHEETAH

Fastest land animal. Flexible spine allows very long strides. Invoke for flexibility and accelerated spiritual progress.

COYOTE

Increasing while most predators decrease due to amazing adaptability and cunning. Honored as a mischievous Trickster. Invoke for adaptability, cunning and wit.

CRANE

Courtship dance creates ritualized bond of love. Invoke for wisdom to create ceremonies that connect us to the spirit realm.

CROCODILE and PLOVER

Plover(a bird) protects Croc's teeth and cleaning gums. Invoke both to help form interspecies alliances.

CROW

Indians honor Crows as tricksters and law giver. An assertive, successful survivor in may locales. Invoke Crow for boldness, shamanic powers, magic and intuition.

DEER

Always alert. Invoked for ability to quickly sense danger, and exit fast. Male deer regrows antlers. Invoke for renewal.

DOG

Invoked for loyalty and for ability to love unconditionally.

DOLPHIN

Most intelligent being on earth. Her medicines invoked for wisdom, peace, love, harmony and communication.

Monogamous and very loving towards mate. Invoked for romantic love, loyalty, peace and innocence.

DUCK

A very protective and patient mother. Her medicine is invoked for developing our nurturing and mothering energy.

EAGLE

Invoked for courage, fortitude, shamanic powers, illumination, inner vision. Inspires our spirit to soar to great heights.

ELEPHANT

Visits ancestors' burial grounds. Tribal people invoked for longevity, intelligence, awakening ancient memories.

FALCON

Longest migration of any being on earth. Invoke for far rapid journey, whether physical or spiritual.

Associated with rain, for most must lay eggs in moisture. Invoke for times of drought.

GROUSE

Moves in ritualized circle during ceremonial courtship dance. Invoked for wisdom to learn about rituals and ceremonies and the harmonizing effect on the spirit.

HAWK

Greatest flyer, carries prayers to the Great Spirit. Invoked for perspective, clarity and inner vision.

HIPPOPOTAMUS

At home in water and land. Invoked to develop psychic intuition while staying grounded and practical.

HORSE

Among the strongest of all animal clans. Invoked for strength and inner power. Can live in wild if set free. Invoked for freedom of spirit and to get in touch with our own wildness.

HUMMINGBIRD

Passion, joy, luck, energy and romantic love.

JAGUAR

Loves to sw3im, will hunt in water. Invoked for the medicine power to hunt in the deep waters of the subconscious.

KANGAROO

Leaves womb while still a fetus and climbs up to pouch. Invoked for courage to go forward when feeling weak.

LEOPARD

Hunts at night. Invoked for understanding of the subconscious mind, the shadow aspects of our selves.

LION

More size, strength and power than any other cat clans. Invoked for strength, prosperity, good luck, courage, cooperation, health and nobility.

LIZARD

Can let his tail fall off when caught, then regrow a new tail. Invoked for regeneration, renewal and transformation.

LYNX

A very secretive, rarely seen wild cat. Invoked for getting in touch with that which is elusive, rare and hard to hold.

MANATEE

Invoked for serenity, gentleness and trust.

MEERCAT

Member of the mongoose clan. Only mammal on earth with no hierarchy. Invoked for freedom from authority.

MOOSE

Largest deer clan. Invoked for power and confidence.

MOUNTAIN LION

Solitary, silent, survives harshest environments. Invoked for ability to silent when necessary.

MOUSE

The most successful, prolific and varied of all animals clans. Invoked for success, alertness and versatility.

OPOSSUM

Peacefully watches the world while hanging upside down by its tail. Invoked for creative way to look at things.

OTTER

Quickly, efficiently meets her food requirements giving her time to play. Invoked for efficiency and playfulness.

OWL

Invoked for occult abilities, dreamtime visions, acceptance of the dark, the night, the shadow within and without.

PEACOCK

Psychic protection, courage, luck, rain and serenity.

PENQUIN

One of the few animals who live in large groups but maintain monogamy. Invoked for loyalty in romantic love.

PIG (Wild)

Lives in small clans in forests. Very communicative with her tribe. Invoked for expressiveness and intelligence.

Climbs trees to great heights. Invoked for ability to defend oneself uniquely. Inspiring to reach the heights.

Lives in towns with tunnels of up to 160 square miles. Invoked to deal with pressures of urban living.

Breed rapidly. Are numerous and successful. Invoked for alertness, abundance success and prosperity.

RACOON

Insatiably curious and mischievous. Invoked for humor, playfulness, ability to skillfully inquire and scrutinize.

RAVEN

Honored as tricksters. Invoked for far seeing prophecy, clairvoyant vision and strong magical powers.

Ability to survive in harsh environments.

ROBIN

Folk wisdom tells us that upon seeing the first Robin of springtime it is wise to stop and pray for hope and healing.

SALMON

Fights her way up stream to spawn. Invoked for the power to overcome obstacles and take difficult challenges.

SEAHORSE

Female lays eggs in male pouch. Invoked for fluid, nonstereotyped parenting abilities.

SKUNK

Most effective defense in animal clan. Doesn't cause permanent harm. Invoked for respect and for defending oneself in creative ways.

SNAKE

Sheds and regrows skin. Invoked for regeneration, transformation, wisdom, wholeness, good fortune and rain.

SPARROW

Weaves unusual things into nest, like gum wrappers. Invoked for courage to walk one's own unique path.

SPIDER

Invoked for creativity, originality and the manifestation power to weave our dreams into reality.

SQUIRREL

Playful. Buries food for winter. Invoked for the ability to plan ahead, playfulness and joy.

SWAN

Strictly monogamous. Mates for life. Invoked for loyal, affectionate love, grace, intuitive powers, faith and commitment.

TIGER

Approaches prey very slowly. Pounces when timing is perfect. Invoked for careful preparation, seizing opportunities.

TURTLE and TORTOISE

Protection, longevity and wisdom.

WEASLE

Hunts under deep snow with cunning, stealth and great fierce. Invoked for fearlessness and occult power.

WHALE

Invoked for intelligence, power, wisdom and the ability to sing you own song and express your own individuality.

WOLF

Prey is usually old and sick. Keeps a species strong by eliminating the weak. Invoked to help us eliminate our own weaknesses and nonproductive thoughts that weaken our spirit.

WOODPECKER

Linked to his drumlike peck with thunder spirits. Invoked for rain regeneration and cleansing.
